About Karl Lagasse – The Visionary Behind the Work

Karl Lagasse, born in Paris in 1981, is one of the most innovative and sought-after French artists of his generation. He gained early recognition for his distinctive artistic approach, blending sculpture, painting, and collage. Known for his One Dollar sculptures, which highlight his admiration for the United States and symbolize the idea of creating art from minimal resources, Lagasse has cemented his place in the international art scene.

Lagasse’s career took off in 1996 at the young age of 15, when he sold his first artwork in Antwerp. Since then, he has exhibited across the globe, with major exhibitions in Paris, Brussels, and Monaco. In addition to his famous “One Dollar” series, Lagasse is known for his “Cryptogram One”, which was unveiled at the Art Monaco fair in 2011 and quickly became one of his most celebrated works.

In 2012, Lagasse was invited to create a monumental work for the 65th Cannes Film Festival, where he crafted a 2.80-meter-high sculpture in collaboration with Corbis, integrating cement, wood, glass, and photography. This work was signed by numerous international film stars and further solidified his reputation in the art world.

The Cryptogram Fragment Bronze represents the evolution of Lagasse’s creative journey, drawing from his experiences and his passion for merging contemporary themes with timeless materials.
